Although Xenplate is built to high standards and is targeted at professional applications it can be used ‘out of the box’ to create low cost applications without requiring any programming. For example, it is realistic to progress from an idea to a powerful, bespoke application deployed to mobile devices with central control in just a few weeks.

Xenplate has a great deal of functionality – video, imaging, messaging, calendaring, reporting, GPS mapping, smart synchronization, encryption, multi-factor authentication, cross platform working, full audit (GAMP) capability, permissions, safe hosting, Active Directory integration and more. All of this can be added to your core IPR or used to transform your idea into a product.
API / medical devices and interfaces
Xenplate already has interfaces to a wide range of third party systems, particularly in healthcare. These include SystmOne, a major primary care EPR package. is provided with an API that allows tight integration with external programs. The API ensures your IPR is kept separate from Xenplate. For medical device developers, L2S2 is ISO 13485 accredited and Xenplate can be a major part of your product. If you are working with hospitals or GP practices L2S2 has significant experience of negotiating data sharing agreements and building interfaces to numerous systems world-wide.
For customers who want to outsource the logistical and technical issues involved in hosting a resilient network to connect their products, Xenplate is available as an ISO 27001 accredited hosted platform operated by L2S2. The network is used to store and transfer millions of records annually for the NHS and UK government and is fully encrypted and resilient. Xenplate is available both on the Internet and on the NHS private HSCN network (formerly called N3).
L2S2 holds accreditations to ISO/IEC 27001:2013, ISO 13485:2003, EN/ISO 13485:2012, ISO 9001:2008 and is NHS IGToolkit Level 3.
How Xenplate works
– Database creation – Encryption – Database replication –
The Xenplate records database is created automatically from dynamic forms (Plates) that are created using the Xenplate online design tool or through the API. Images and other large media are stored separately in an encrypted store and referenced in the database. The database and services are hosted on Windows servers and automatically replicated to a second hot standby site to allow automatic failover.
– Encrypted local environment –
The Xenplate Windows and Android apps create an encrypted environment and an AES 256 encrypted local database. All data is encrypted in storage and transfer and only decrypted when needed. Xenplate uses native graphics to render the Plates that appear the same as when viewed on the web. Data entered on the web and tablets is automatically synchronized. Mobile devices work both on and off line.
– user interface – high level editor –
Plates represent the user interface and support most usual control elements (e.g. label, text, image, drop down etc.) and can be themed to control properties like font, size and colour. They are created using an intuitive, high level editor, and this means that end-users often create the interfaces they will have to work with. In fact, straightforward Xenplate products can be created without need for programming skills.
– browser operation – permissions and authentication –
The Xenplate Cloud hosts a secure web server that renders these Plates to allow a user to enter and review data from their browser. Permissions and authentication are used to ensure that the user is only able to see and update intended content.
– Interfacing to other systems –
When Xenplate is configured to be interfaced to an external system e.g. TPP SystmOne, the fields will be automatically updated to contain the synchronized data.
– rapid creation of powerful applications –
Xenplate can be used as an instant, secure website that allows customized data collection and review with automated reporting. It is possible to create and host a design within minutes with automatically generated PDF reports that will be sent to a recipient list by schedule.
The real power of Xenplate is evident in the mobile domain. The Xenplate servers encrypt and manage the Plates associated with each user and maintain these in efficient synchronization with the user’s mobile Windows and Android devices.
