What you will do?

We are looking for a Finance Assistant to work 6 hours per week. You will work part-time alongside the Financial Controller to administer the Purchase Ledger as well as assist with nominal ledger analysis, we use SAGE 50 Accounts software.

Job description/responsibilities

Maintain the purchase ledger:

  • Download invoices from emails & save into Supplier Folders
  • Enter invoices onto SAGE using Auto entry software or manually
  • Keep a register of invoices awaiting payment
  • Review Supplier balances and reconcile Supplier statements
  • Create a weekly payment list for the FC.
  • Keep Supplier Folders tidy
  • Analyse Company Credit card monthly statements
  • Analyse weekly employee spending
  • Process Director’s and employee’s expenses
  • Run SAGE reports as requested
  • Analyse data from the Purchase ledger or Nominal Ledger as required

Knowledge and Qualifications

  • Competent with SAGE 50 Accounts
  • Understanding of SAGE Nominal Ledger coding

Experience and Abilities

  • Previous experience of running a Purchase Ledger in an SME

Skills and Competencies

  • Microsoft Office Outlook & Excel skills, including confident use of formulae
  • Ability to download .csv files from accounting software and formulate into .xls format
  • Understanding of VAT rules

The full-time equivalent of this role is £25,000 to £30,000 depending on experience. The salary will be pro rata to part-time hours worked.


L2S2 works to full medical software standards and we will give you training on these standards.  You will also be trained in the technologies and skills that you need to fulfill your role.

About this role

This role is a part-time position, 6 hours per week, split evenly between working on Tuesdays and Thursdays. L2S2 is based five miles outside Cambridge.  This role is an office-based position.

All employees are subject to a DBS check in line with NHS requirements.
